New schematics supposedly presenting the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus designs were leaked by uSwitch and devices leader Steve Hemmerstoffer from his Twitter account @onleaks on Wednesday. Based on these leaks, it appears like there will be 2 huge distinctions between the two models, the regular 4.7-inch iPhone 7 on the left and the iPhone 7 Plus with a 5.5-inch display on the right.
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus
According to the schematics, only the bigger iPhone 7 Plus with a 5.5-inch screen will have a dual camera and Smart Connector. The routine iPhone 7 with a 4.7-inch screen does not look like it will have either of those features.
It’s still not clear what a double camera will do on the iPhone 7 Plus. On the LG G5’s double camera, the secondary lens is utilized as an ultra-wide angle camera, which our photography professional Rafi Letzter isn’t keen on. The Huawei P9 also has a double lens camera that can refocus after you’ve taken an image, and it can add DSLR-style effects, too. We will just have to hold and see exactly what Apple finishes with this type of camera architecture.
The Smart Connector, which is used to connect Apple’s Smart Keyboard to the iPad Pros, was a head-scratcher for a while. We saw little reason for Apple to include a Smart Connector to any iPhone, as it’s too small to connect to a keyboard and get any genuine productive work done.
A recently given patent filed by Apple does recommend that the company has more plans for the Smart Connector. Among the items in the patent, for instance, reveals a Smart Connector linking to a Smart Cover with integrated solar panels for charging. That would be a fantastic idea for the iPhone 7, or any iPhone, for that matter.
If the Smart Connector could be used for power, it could also suggest that battery cases do not need to be so large, particularly at the bottom where the area is presently needed to make room for a Lightning connector. But it’s sadly something that routine iPhone 7 users would not benefit from if the leaks are accurate.
